Dr Sara Johnstone
Sara is a highly qualified and very experienced children’s dental specialist and we are delighted to welcome her to 76 Harley Street.
She has a particular interest in looking after children who are nervous about dental treatment and those who have had bad dental experiences in the past. She enjoys working with children of all ages and with different behavioural and dental challenges.
Her aim is to give children a relaxed and positive experience so that they will be confident and happy dental patients as adults. She treats children with a warm and holistic approach and makes sure that her care and treatment is tailored to the needs of each individual child.
Like all the clinicians in the practice, she is dedicated to pain-free treatment. This can be achieved with just her gentle hands and understanding, local anaesthesia (always with a preliminary anaesthetic gel) or ‘inhalation sedation’ for older children. Treatment with general anaesthesia can be arranged at the Harley Street Clinic when necessary.
Sara qualified from The University of Birmingham Dental Hospital in 1990, after which she held hospital posts in the departments of Paediatric Dentistry at The Royal London, St Georges and Kings College hospitals. She continued her post-graduate training and was awarded an MSc in paediatric dentistry in 1993. She has worked in the community specialist dental service, and for ten years ran the department of paediatric dentistry at St Mary’s Hospital where she treated medically compromised and sick children.
For the last eleven years, Sara has been treating children in private practice in central London.
She is recognized by the General Dental Council as a Specialist in Paediatric Dentistry.
