Dr Joanna Johnson
Joanna is a hugely experienced paediatric dentist. She has been a very important member of the clinical team at 76 Harley Street since 2008, during which time she has helped numerous children overcome their fear of dentistry.
As she only treats children she has developed management techniques which result in happy compliance from children who might otherwise not accept treatment. She understands that each child is different, with individual joys and fears. Her ‘can-do’ approach means that visits to see her become relaxed and cheerful occasions.
Like all the clinicians in the practice, she is dedicated to pain-free treatment. This can be achieved with just her gentle hands and understanding, local anaesthesia (always with a preliminary anaesthetic gel) or ‘inhalation sedation’ for older children.
After qualifying from Newcastle University in 1997, Joanna held senior house officer posts in paediatric dentistry. She was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2002, followed by specialist training at Guy’s Hospital, London. She completed a master’s course in Paediatric Dentistry in 2005 and gained her membership (2006) and the fellowship (2008) in Paediatric Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
After a period as consultant at St Georges Hospital, Joanna transferred to Guy’s Hospital in 2014 where she is a consultant.
